Some projects are about cutting lawns and tidying borders. Others, like this one, are about transforming how someone lives in their space. That’s exactly what happened when I was called in to help a homeowner who was desperate for a bit of sunshine—and a little more privacy.
The problem? The only usable outdoor space was at the front of the house. It got the sun… but only until around 4pm. After that, the shadows rolled in, and the owner was left sitting in the shade—just as the warm evenings began. But next to the house, tucked away behind a wall of overgrowth, was a disused patch of land that caught the sun until late evening. The only issue? It wasn’t accessible and hadn’t been touched in what looked like years.

We got stuck in. Brambles, self-seeded trees, overgrown shrubs—it was a serious jungle. As we worked our way through the thicket, we were shocked to discover a shed buried beneath the greenery. It was barely visible when we first arrived, but there it was—almost swallowed whole by nature.
